Our first projext in Hammanskraal, SOuth Africa, focused on building a soccer field and a combination sports court for a local school. Working closely with the school, we provided sports kits, equipment and training. Beyond sports, this project created a safe structured environment for student after school and opened the door to new possibilities for personal and community development.
Sports and other extracurricular activities create a sense of belonging and school pride, critical for every good school. Sports also build healthy bodies, encourage self-discipline, grow confidence and promote positive social interaction.
It is no coincidence that schools with high participation rates in sports and other extracurricular activities also produce the best academic results. It is thus vital to invest in sports facilities to create a more conducive learning environment, and give all children an equal opportunity to grow and succeed.
(By the way, Maddoc is actively involved in the work we do, driving the creation of sports facilities for kids. He’s much more than just our ideas guy …)
We provide funding, without requiring repayment, to help individuals overcome financial barriers and start small businesses. In addition to financial support, we offer guidance including financial planning and strategic advise to promote long term sustainability.
We also facilitate connections between business owners ad potential owners, fostering collaboration and expanding opportunities.
Our aim is to support thriving businesses that drive economic growth and create lasting opportniities within their communities.
When we launched the MP+A Foundation, we learned that we needed to look beyond sporting opportunities and also support the communities where we work.
Through microinvesting, we can inject capital into small local businesses that are often overlooked by traditional banking services, helping mums and dads to grow their own enterprises and enabling marginalised communities to prosper.

“It’s exciting and fun. I love spending time with friends and playing. I feel proud when we play well.”
“On a trip back to South Africa, I noticed that some children have quite difficult lives and don’t get to just play sometimes. I love playing and spending time with my friends, and I really wanted other kids to be able to do the same,” says South African-born Maddoc.
“So I talked to my parents and they helped me reach out to a local charity [working in Hammanskraal, outside Pretoria]. We learnt about the needs of the community and how we could help."
“We decided the first thing we wanted to do was create a sports field and combination court for a local school. We also agreed we’d provide the equipment, kit and coaching, so that all the children in the school would be able to play cricket, football, netball, volleyball and tennis!” says Maddoc.
Spending time in the school we realised that we also needed to look beyond sporting opportunities to support the communities where we work.

From Maddoc’s desire to do something life-changing for others, the MP+A Foundation, a family-run initiative, was born.
